Ok, I have been successfully burning DVDs until I tried Behind Enemy Lines. When I ripped using DVD Decrypter, the picture was scrambled, and then when I used Smartripper, I got no sound. I have even burnt to DVD to see if the sound would come back on the burn, and that failed. I am getting low on options, and would appreciate the help. Happy Easter.

Is the disc dirty or scratched?

The disc is fine, I tried PowerDVD and no sound, but got picture. Using Window Media player I got picture and sound, but when I burnt to DVD, I just got picture.

I've heard of WMP having video or sound when other players do not or vice versa which has led me to believe that it has a set of codecs it can use but others cannot. I'll look around on this and let you know if I find anything.

This may not fix the problem but it sounds like it's possibly in the right direction. Here's a thread about this same movie and how it will not play in early versions of WinDVD but will play in WMP. The reason is it's got DTS sound. I think with smartripper you have to demux DTS sound as opposed to decoding. I'll keep looking.

The usual solution is to burn even though playing after rip shows no sound.
And this is often successful.
If it's PAL R2 I'll check out 'Behind Enemy Lines' ... just as a test.

I'm in UK so I can only check PAL Region2 [d'oh]!!

I have done behind enemy lines - using dvd decrypter (iso read/write) my version(uk pal r2)was under 4.7Gb so it was no problem.

The DTS - that twilite wrote makes sense(my version did not have DTS on it)

DTS decoding requires different decoders that 2channel and 5.1 cannot decode this produces no sound - you will find that dvd's will not have JUST DTS because of this.

I did bad company recently and just left DTS as the audio on it.
In the pc (powerdvd) = no sound
In the standalone = no sound out of the TV
In the standalone through an amp(capable of decoding DTS) = perfect sound.

If you do not have capable decoding devices, I suggest you choose the 5.1 channel option, this should work.

...............PIO is no go, DMA all the way...............
Beware of the Pixies - they move in over night and turn your life upside down

In DVD2One the choice would be AC3 6CH & not DTS
