Swapping without a swap magic disc?

I've heard in the past that you can use an original ps2 disc to swap out and play a backup. Is this true/ is it still possible? Or are the swap magics discs the last hope other than have some type of chip?

Ive read that you can do it with ps1 games, but its not possible with ps2 games.

u can with gameshark2v2 u put game loade>without then u swap gameshark with the back up but first ull hav to modify ur ps2 by doing this with a credit card slid it under ur ps2 disc tray
ull c a white tab slide that to the right with the credit card so now u can manully pull out the disc tray tab so when u swap the ps2 dosent no its opean then use game shark(or the original disc)then just let it load(will load slower then original game)
