Anyone know why it takes almost twice as long to burn a dvd using the dvd-rw disks vs the dvd+rw? I have a sony dru-500ax, copying dvds using dvdxcopy, it takes 20 mins w/ dvd+rw, and takes 51 mins w/ dvd-rw disks??

It depends on the firmware and on the media. Most dvd+RW medias are able to be burnt with 2.4 speed, but most DVd-R are NOT. You have to take a look at the description of the media. Sames with -R and +R. And same with CD-RW for example.... Your burner can burn 10speed but if the media is only able to get burnt with 4speed your burning program will only burn with that lower speed.

So it depends on the media.
