I backed up A History of Violence and I will say I have never seen a DVD like this. I backed up the whole disc minus all audio tracks except AC3 5.1. The movie played OK except part of the extras had no audio. I then tried movie only. There are 2 titles in the movie. One is the movie and the other is the extras. I copied only the movie and now had a movie with no audio. I copied both of the titles in the movie and now had audio but had to waste space on extras that I couldn't play because there was no menu. apparently the audio for some of the extras is in the movie title and the movie audio is in the extras title. I finally just used a DL disc and copied the whole thing with all of the audio tracks. I have never before seen a DVD with audio for one title put into another title. If I try to play the movie in DVD shrink there is no audio in the movie at all. This is with the original disc. I wonder what they're going to do next?

I don't know what happened. I guess my speakers had cut out or something. I just did movie only with title 23 again AC3-5.1 audio only and I do have sound. There are 2 titles under main movie. The other one is title 7-16. This title has some of the extra features in it. I guess when I did the whole disc and deleted all the audio except AC3-5.1 (in the movie section) I killed the audio in that part of the extras that are in the movie section. I've never seen extras in the movie section before. This is DVD Shrink I'm talking about. I've probably got everyone confused, including me, now. Everything's OK now, I guess.

i did this movie with DVD Shrink only. but i did read a thread somewhere about the poster having an issue with audio... i'm just about to get off AD and watch this very film so i'll advise how my copy works (well when i can bear to turn off my Gatecrasher Blue cd (disc 2, absolutely awesome & brings back memories of the summer (many summers ago i might add) driving my BMW 535i Sport at 130mph to and from my crappy 12hr shifts with the trance music at full volume. sigh!

I did the whole disc again and this time I opened the folder or whatever you call it in DVD Shrink that is labeled "Main Movie" and made sure that I didn't delete any audio in title 7-16. I did delete all of the extra audio I didn't want in title 1. Now everything is normal. It's just that if there is more than one title in the main movie section you can wind up deleting audio in both titles unless you open up main movie and delete whatever audio you want seperately in each title. I've only ever seen 2 titles in the main movie before when there were two versions of the movie in there. This is the first time I ever saw any of the extras in there. I guess I'll just have to be more observant about this in the future. Creaky, You have a region 2 Disc, I imagine, and it could be different than my region 1 disc. If I had just done a movie only disc I would probably never have noticed this. I would have had some extras without any audio in them, but I wouldn't have known they were there since I would have had no menu to select them.

If you use DVD Shrink, you do get 2 titles under Main Movie:
Title 7, 2186MB
Title 23, 4203MB
I presume Title 23 ia what we want if only want main movie, given its size.
Can anyone confirm? Thanks.

That's the one. I mistakenly called it title 1. The movie is the big one. You can play it to be sure.
