Ahead of the Sony press conference tomorrow, Japanese newspaper Nihon Keizai Shimbun has reported that the PS3 release in Japan has been pushed back until November.

As is usual, and given the press conference tomorrow, not many details are available at this stage. However, Blu-Ray is said to be the cause of the problem, namely issues of the finalization of the copy protection technology.

When asked for a comment, a Sony Computer Entertainment America spokesperson only went on record saying that SCEI has not issued any official statement itself yet.

It seems likely then that the US and European launches will now be sometime in 2007. Be sure to check back tomorrow when we will have the full details direct from Sony themselves.
