Viper modded gamecube problem I have?

I installed my own viper extreme chip and adjusted the pot to about 230ohms which played my backups just fine. It worked for about 2 weeks now and all of a sudden.....it doesn't read anything. I took it all apart and check the solder points which still look good & I've tried adjusting the pot....but still nothin??? Any thoughts??

P.S. Just wondering if it is my laser that took a dump, will this be an ongoing issue with these nintendo lasers even if I keep buying new ones?
