hello , i have written in the past and asked as many did about the droning humming sound when using the tuner and watching t.v . and recording off it . well i worked and worked on it again the other night , rechecking , putting new cables , etc. i actually ran across this by accident . i have a dish satalight system with control ( their is a volume on this control ) i also have a hitachi big screen t.v. and it has a seperate volume control . i found that turning down the volume on the dish control to half or less and then adjusting the volume up more as i need it on the t.v. control i have taken almost all the hum out of it ( it is now mostly only heard on the satalight guide part , which isn't left on long anyway ) so that for me was a way to solve the problem of the feed back noise . i do still have small lines horizonally on the picture so anyone have a clue on fixing that , i have checked lines, new cables, it's something to do with the ilo because when i have the t.v. direct it shows all clear no lines . so any help on this is very much needed .

actually, most people are easily fixing this humming problem by using their old VCRs as tuners and hooking the VCR's to the BACK video/audio inputs (the front ones produce hum). The cheap tuner that the ILO comes with is one of the reasons for its low price; or so I heard.

I have a problem with my recorder sometimes though, occasionally the screen will 'bob' up and down somewhat. Its not that noticeable, but when I am recording a widescreen TV show like Laguna Beach, you notice the tops of the black bars moving up and down.

BTW I have the ILO DVDR04

No, i dont get black bars, the screen moves up and down when I am recording from the VCR through the DVD recorder; and if i am watching a widescreen presentation it is much more obvious than if I am not.
