hey Madjoker, lets see if we can fix this, sit back and get ready...

First, update nero to version 6.6.0.18, it's stable and will work better for you. Uninstall version 6.6.0.16 from your system using the nero clean tool found here (write down the serial# for re-entry later):

http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/General_CleanTool.html

When done, install version 6.6.0.18 packages 1 and 2 found here and re-enter that serial#:

Package 1
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe

Package 2
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe
*********************************************************************

Second, Your burner's firmware is a little behind at version BFS1, click on the link and follow the instructions from Sony on updating to version BFS2. The update will add additional media support (a good thing).

http://esupport.sony.com/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=VGCRB30&upd_id=...
*********************************************************************

Third, your burner isn't recognizing the brand of media your using as indicated here (have you changed the brand of disks your using?):

Media Specific [16..63]:
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................

Disc not writeable. Insert writeable disc.
(Medium in drive: DVD-R. Medium required by compilation: DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R DL.)

The firmware update may fix this problem, but if your still having problems burning to these disks, switch to another brand like Sony DVD+Rs or verbatim disks (anything made in Japan will do).
*********************************************************************

Fourth, your burning at 8x speed as indicated here:

5:33:35 PM #31 Phase 38 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 276
Burn process failed at 8x (11,080 KB/s)

Try slowing down to 4x, it may take a little longer, but the results are worth it.
*********************************************************************

And fifth, to be safe have shrink or nero cut down on the file size they create, they may be too large as indicated here, cut it down to 4300MB:

Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB)
Last address to be written: 2278319 (506:17.44, 4449MB)

In shrink, goto edit-->preferences, in the preferences tab choose custom from the dropdown menu and enter a value of 4300.
*********************************************************************

Remember not to multitask while burning and shut down any unneeded applications running as well.

Cheers...................

Insert your blank media and let the OS and burning program detect and recognize it first. The rest depends on how you're burning to disk....

What program are you using to burn with?
Are you having DVDshrink autoburn for you?

Buy the way I use memorex, and Verbatims to burn..the programs i have is AnyDVD,nero6,and dvd shrink(only use the Nero recode if making more than 1 copy)the only change i did was going to edit and changing from DVD-5 to custom so i could set the mem to 4300.

Ok, so you're using DVDshrink along with anydvd and autoburning with nero, is this correct, or are you burning manually?.

Note: If autoburning with shrink, in shrink's preferences make sure you have burn with nero checked.

Don't use the memorex disks, stick to the verbatims.

Before you start the backup process, you should apply all of the updates I suggested. Update nero and your burner's firmware (very important).

When all the updates have been applied:

1)Insert you're DVD and wait for anydvd to do it's thing (the fox needs to turn bright red).

2)Run shrink and choose open disk if backing up from a DVD, wait for it to finish

Note: If the video files are already on your hard drive, you need to run shrink and choose open files, browse to where the VIDEO_TS folder is located, highlight the folder and click ok to import the files, wait for it to finish.

3)Click on the reauthor tab.
4)Double click on the title to the right that represents the main movie to choose it, or click and drag it to the left side (usually the upper most title shown).
5)Click on the compression tab, here uncheck all the boxes except the audio channel of your choice (5.1 AC3 english audio is mine).
6)Click on the backup tab and choose your backup options (burn with nero)
7)On the last tab is where you have shrink tell nero at what speed to burn with, here set it to 4x.
8)click ok and start the process.

I rechecked the links, and they're definitely the downloads for version 6.6.0.18

Package 1
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe

Package 2
http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

If you're still getting this error:
5:33:34 PM #27 CDR -1046 File Writer.cpp, Line 311
Illegal disc

OR

Disc not writeable. Insert writeable disc.
(Medium in drive: DVD-R. Medium required by compilation: DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R DL.)

Your burner is just not recognizing the media correctly and the firmware update should solve the problem (update it's ok, just follow the instructions as stated on the site). I would recommend using Sony DVD+R disks, they're made in japan and are all I use, never had a problem with these disks.

That's an aspi driver that nero needs in order to communicate with your drive. This driver should of been installed when you install nero on your PC, the driver may have been corrupted some how.

You have two choices to fix this.

1) uninstall nero completely from your system as is described in my initial post above using the cleantool, reboot the PC. Then reinstall nero version 6.6.0.18, install both packages starting with package 1, reboot the PC after each install.

OR

2) click on the link provided and download the wnaspi32.dll file from the nero site, put the file in the nero folder as instructed. I believe the path is c:\program file\ahead\nero

Just copy past the file in the nero folder, if you get a prompt that the file already exists in the folder, choose to replace it. Once the file is in place reboot the PC for the change to go in effect.
