I've got a Noob question,

I just bought a new laser for my Gamecube(Before the old one died, I had adjusted the POT), will I have to adjust the POT for the new laser or will it reset itself?

Thanks

When I installed the xenogc chip I scratched the laser lens while taking apart the gamecube, the chip seems to be functioning okay(there are 2 leds that come on during boot up that let you know it's working)but since then it's not reading discs properly, new and backups. I've ordered a replacement laser and I hoping that will fix the problem.

You should readjust it since the new laser will be different from your old one. Meaning, it could be higher, lower, or even the same. It's a good preventive measure to just readjust it.

Just a question, maybe that POT could be replaced for a fixed value resistance?

Im a noob for electronics, but if u get the POT replaced for a resistance u can forget of readjusting that value (180-210 ohms)

Fixed values shouldn't be used for multiple reasons, the main one being the fact that the laser is rather picky, and you don't want to install a resistor only to find out that the laser doesn't read well at that resistance, even though it did with the pot moments earlier. Also, the pot is very small, and attempting to install a resistor in it's place could prove rather difficult.
