Saving PlayStation games in the PlayStation 2. HELP!

I just got V-Rally 2 used with a PlayStation Memory Card. Now, my problem is that when I save, every time I close my PlayStation 2, the data seems to get automatically erased. The game keeps saying that there is no V-Rally 2 data in the PlayStation Memory Card, even when I actually saved data on it and tried to load the data while the game was running. What's the problem?

same happens to me on brand new ps2 using ratchet deadlock on original from the store disk.

markander, that's a PlayStation 2 game. I'm talking about a PlayStaion game(PSX, PSone). Nobody knows what the problem is? I'm guessing the Memory Card is either not formated(?), or it's defective.

Are you using psx memorycard?
If so, have you tried checking it on a psx to see if it works?

I have a PSX Memory Card. Hmmm... never thought of trying it on an original PlayStation. I'll go back to where I bought the Memory Card and try it on one of the PlayStations for sale there(I know the owner and he lets me tinker around with some of the consoles to test things I get from him). I'll report back what happens.
