I just had a question, does anyone here on AD ride motorcycles? If so what kind of bike do you have? Dirtbike streetbikes etc.

Hi Caffeine,
I have ~200,000KM on big streetbikes, since the mid-70's.
I've ridden the secondary roads all over North America, and raced a little Amateur Superbike (in the Canadian R.A.C.E. series) in the 80's.
I had a brand-new black 1980 CBX 1050cc, in March 1980. Later in the late 80's, I picked up a red 1979 CBX :^)
Everyone should ride a six-cylinder motorcycle before they die, LoL...
I had a 1982 CX500 Turbo, it was fun - it would tour all day @ 150kph, and return ~50mpg.
My buddy liked Kawasakis, and his KZ1300 (six-cylinder) was amazing.
I saw 235kph on his big fuel-injected KZ1000 - was trying to triple the 80kph speed-limit (just missed it).
I sold motorcycles in the early 2000's and didn't need to own my own...
But I gotta chubb for a new XL1200R Sportster, very stock, with good rubber, braided-steel brake lines and a 2>1 exhaust that plays Ducati music.
Strangely, I have no urge to own a Ducati...
Do you ride, caffeine?

You must have pix for every word in the dictionary. And you use them well.LMAO

I had Honda 250 dirtbike in mid 70s. We rode and camped in the woods quite often. Haven't ridden since.

Yep,
current bike is a Blackbird (like the one in the pic - same model & colour).

Mine has been re-engineered by Holeshot (stage 3):

Hi Doc,
You're full of surprises!
I'm liking you more & more...
Stage 3? LoL :^) That's good for the soul, is it not?
Guaranteed to add an inch to your sleeve-length...
Was never called 'Blackbird' in North America.
Very sweet ride (keep it rubber-side down okay).

I do ride actually, not street bikes however. I ride a yz125 and absolutely love it. Its light, nimble and has adequite power. I have recently been checking out the kawi ninjas because I hear they are pretty fast but besides that I dont really know what kind of street bikes are good because I have never really ridden them before.

1989 Harley Sportster 883 All black and chrome.
Screaming Eagle pipes, S&S carb, front and rear lowered, and I converted the stock chain drive to a belt. Has been in storage for 4 years (long story) and now that I'm healthy again and settled into a new house with workspace, I am getting her out of storage next week. Lets hope It doesn't take too much work getting her back to life.

Hi all.
I've been riding bikes since my early teens... Been around Europe a few times, rode to Portugal aswell...
I sold my last streetfightered CBR in September last year but i have another CBR 6(fourth one) in bits in my garage. Bought it earlier in the year all smashed in and all... I'm rebuilding it for the summer but i need a new cdu and the forks are a bit more expensive than i thought... Apart from that i got all the 'new parts' for it including the new tank. Also got an R1 rear end for it! I'm waiting for the new subframe (costum made by yours trully)to come in, hopefully this week...
It's taking time and (a lot of) money, but i still reckon i'll have it done come July time.(I hope!)

Hey Permiggs, how do the hondas ride? Are they comparable to something like a Kawasaki ninja, better?

Well, are you talking about the new machinery? I never had a go at those... All i know is they're all TOO fast!!

The bikes i ride and kinda know are from the 90's. The Ninjas are alright but if you compare them with the Hondas, to start with, they fall apart within a few years... Then there's the niggles, the Hondas are pretty much petrol and tyres... And that's it! The Ninjas are like Ducatis and Guzzis, don't like rain. Not only that, they have a better mid range which makes them more usable in 'the real world', makes them more forgiving... The Ninjas have awesome power, are really fast, but are kinda saggy... I'm talking about the 600's here! CBR 600F and ZX-6R. IMVVHO the Honda is the clear winner! (i had 4 so i might be biased mind...)

The big bikes are uncomparable! The Blade will chew the ZX-9 hands down! You pick the place whether it be motorway, fast A-road, bumpy B-road... The blade will win!
The only bike that will beat the Blade is the R1. My brother has a '98 model now (he had another before this one)and i tried to go after him when i had my Urban Tiger (with a 17' front wheel), and mate, he left me for dead!

So... I think the Hondas are better...

Hehe,

My muvva has virtually scared me out of riding one since birth, as my Uncle (her brother) nearly died in a bad accident.

Used to race a CR500, unbelievable acceleration. Made my GSX-R750 like an asthmatic ant with heavy hand luggage!

Look for ghostrider 2 on your favorite Torrent site. You'll be shocked with what this geezer does... (like a normal 45 minute trip... But he does it in 15 minutes with an 170mph+ average in rush hour!!)

@Pulsar
But you're nuts enough to go on it!! :D

I think you have to be a little bit nuts to ride a big bike! Esp racing. Not that I did any good, always hung around the back, praying for the last lap flag! Beach racing was fun though.
