try DVD Decrypter to put it on your hard drive first then use shrink, this should solve your problem, also, when i did a copy here of that, i had any dvd running in back ground and just used shrink

In DVD Decrypter go to Tools, Drive, Check for firmware (note the current version that pops up)...you will be directed to rpc1, make sure you are using the most current version of firmware for your drive.

I don't see any updates on either of the drives you listed at rpc1.
EDIT: can you see the disc in My Computer? Try to browse the disc to see what format the files are in.

Since I got a swell dell, I decided to call them as drive is still under warranty.......they had me clear the BIOS so to speak, I asssume that's something like DOS, but the guy guy said it was like disconnecting and reconnecting the comps internal battery to remove any built up electrical fields....I had to press f2 at the dell logo and then hold alt while pressing E,F,B,D this solved the problem and now my dvdrom is reading again, Although I still don't understand what caused the malfunction......thanks for trying to help though, and sorry Shrink got the initial rap for it, I had just backed up a disc when the problem occured so.......hmmmmm.....

Glad you got it working again...sometimes if you have a bunch of read errors with a disc in your drive it will cause it to go wacky-do...who knows.
