I was just looking on psp-hacks and I noticed a bunch of custom shell progs that change the way the shell looks, anyone tried any of these and kno if they're safe.
I kno its ok if its from psp-hacks..
but i mean like if it will crash your psp and blah blah blah

Probably, change the shell as in the menu look etc? be careful though u dont wanna end up with a brick, speaking of brick have u seen this video? http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/132

yea its supposed to change the shell icons and add new stuff like being able to mute a game and listen to mp3s instead and other stuff..
even thou its on psp hacks i wanted to ask if anyone did this so that i could find out how it is and if it has any downsides

i used the artillary shell. pretty funkii and stuff, but it still needs work in viewing stuff (it can view jpg and stuff like winxp). but personally, i wouldve loved it if it were able to do all the stuff (dont like betas). but artillary works fine.
i wana test more out ^_^

there is a new shell called psposx it looks really good and can do a lot more than artillary...

no i am waiting for some guys to let me know what its like on another forum, i probably will thou, if its on psp-hacks home page then it should be ok to use, but i might wait for the next release, depends how bored i get between now and the new release....

oh yeah i did use ir shell when that came out, but its very basic, so i deleted it...

oki doki... been the guinea pig for PSPOSX
verdict: wow! its a great niffy lil shell there ^_^ . thanx for that mattallen
@Joeva: give it a try. the only thing bad i found is to close the window ur on is quite annoyin since the analog stick controls the mouse.
@mattallen: if u could, can u tell the developers that the buttons should be a bit bigger. apart from that, holy crud its a niffy lil thing ^_^ . wish psp waz a touchpad :P . tell them they did a great job (ill let u tell them so u can get the credit and stuff cauz i didnt kno bout it :P .
one thing though, it cant view *.png files. bumholes tricked me and put *.png wallpapers, so i tried to view it in PSPOSX and it crashed >_<

Can sum1 tell me what the shell does that the psp cant do on its own?
eg i know it can play more pic files not just jpg, but what else?

i didnt like the artillery shell IMO, since it waz still buggy :(
shells help make the navigation of your psp more friendly and easier to use
PSPOSX examples: lets you use a pointing device with the joystick, enable usb at the touch of a button, lets you view whats on ur psp in each directory (pics, music, games AND browse the whole psp dir), play music in a nice looking way, and yeah. its like putting a paper bag over someones head. theyre the same thing, but looks different... :P

yea piece
its not just a shell changer but its sorta like a os overhall
the shells say that they allow you to mute a game you are playing and play mp3s while you are playing your game, they say that you can view different kind of pictures, and thats its more organized and looks better than psps default xmb shell.
there is even a windows os for psp.. and it looks like windows lol.. so you can do it to switch up looks..
its funny u say that gregg cause artillery is the safest one right now
