I am using avi2dvd software to convert my avi video files to dvd in order to watch them on a stand alone dvd player that can not support divx.
most of the avis are widescreen (aspect ratio 16:9)but my tv doesn't have a widescreen, so I would like to convert the image to full screen.
If I change the aspect ratio on the step 2 - output in avi2dvd the image is converted to fullscreen (aspect ratio 4:3) but I am seeing long faces of the people in the movie.
can anyone help me on this topic?
please.
thank you.

From my understanding of this, there is nothing wrong going on. You dont have a widescreen, only a standard screen tv. You told it to convert a letterbox aspect ratio 16:9 into a full screen ratio 4:3 and it did that. Thats why you have the long faces. It made the picture taller, but it cant make it taller only, and not wider without changing the appearance of the picture. You can make a widescreen picture into a fullscreen one, but thats what you get, long faces. It filled up the screen just like you asked it to.

yes, i got the ideea.
i knew why it did the long faces, but either way i can't get the full image.
if i leave the aspect ratio unchanged, the image i get on dvd has the edges / margins cut.
is there any way to get the full image? besides getting a wide screen tv....
thank you for answering
