Whats the best ps2 version to get? I also want it to work with hdloader, swap magic, and a 200gb hard drive. thanks

New, slimline PS2s, doesn't support HDLoader. You have to use USB Extreme or HDAdvance instead, when you choose slim PS2. Fat PS2s support also internal HDD, slims support only USB drives, but come with built in Network Adapter. Keep in mind that V12 PS2s also need laser fix, otherwise they'll burn out. V9-V10 have also troubles with lasers, if i remember correctly, you need Romeo fix for them.

If you're going to only "softmod" it and want to use internal HDD with HDLoader, then probably yes.

Me myself just bought new V14 and i'm waiting for Swap Magic 3.6 discs.

V7 would be your best bet, Get it and get a DMS4 Pro chip put in.
Then you are set for anything you want to do. It has a built in HD Loader program, it can format the hard drive for you, it can load games from the PS2 DVD drive strait to your hard drive and so much more.
Don't waste your money with the Swap Magic/Fliptop/Hd Loader method.
It will work but cause you a lot of headaches

Teammodders.com sell slightly used PS2's with a mod chip installed.
