Are the swapmagic bootdisks legal in the US?

eh no. period. They alter your ps2. and in the manual they say NO TO! but i have and i have a swapmagic. they arent legal *wink wink* but they do help u out. and u dont have to have a mod chip! ^_^; which is good.

yes they are legal. if you own a game it's legal to make a backup copy for yourself.

Ok betterlam? illegal? no worries huong23 Swap Magic discs are completely legal, you dont "alter" your PS2, you run a disc on your PS2, by betterlam's definition, putting a skin on your PS2 is illegal

Good. I was thinking that if I don't modify the console (install mod chip) to play my backup then it shouldn't be illegal or void my warranty either.
