Burning straing to full-size DVD's

Is there a way to burn straight to a full sized DVD from a digital camcorder? Can you give me the name of the type of camera that would do this?

Some camcorders record onto a DVD instead of tape. You can then remove the disk from the camcorder and it will play on any DVD player.
Sony have a few models that do this.
