sound card installation kills giga pocket audio!?!?

HI:
I have an Sony RS430G with xp(sp1) and GigaPocket hardware and software. Wanted to take advantage of my 4.1 speaker set up so I de-installed the use of the on-board sound chip by removing it in BIOS, and installed the Mad dog prowler sound card. Any audio app that used the sound card works fine. Fire up Giga pocket and no audio! Check sony site and see the posting that installing ANY sound card will kill the audio on GP. Well if that ain't just plain stupid!..There has to be a work around...has any body figured out a solution?
