How to disable Magic 5KX for v12 slimline PS2?

My query is in the subject line. How do you disable the Magic 5KX chip if it's installed on a v12 PSTwo? The official site only lists the shut off instructions for the older model PS2 and I haven't been able to find any information regarding stealth or shutoff mode for this particular slimline chip. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I think if you hold reset until just before the 'Sony Entertainment' screen appears it will disable the chip.
