OK, I've searched for a while now and Ive created multiple boot disk and Im not getting anywhere. I have the fat ps2. I dont have a mod or gameshark or any cheat devices. I installed my own hard drive and all i want to do is be able to access it to put saves and stuff on it. Its not formatted for ps2 yet so thats the other thing. Ive created a couple boot devices (4 in all so far) using all kinds of different utils. One has HDloader, hdadvance (Not factory disk though)and a few other on it but every single one i try in the ps2 I get the Please insert a Playstation or Playstation 2 formatted disk. Do i need a chip just to load those utils or what? Ive checked the files on my pc and the system.cnt and all look fine.I also have a thumb drive if that would help. Thanks in advance.

when you burn your own software for the ps2 usb advance etc.
you need an modchip to work

Yeah, own burned HDAdvance, HDLoader, Swap Magic etc. need to be originals! Otherwise you would be needing original copy of swap magic to use your own burned discs. That's all the idea about SM, HDA, HDL and so on.
