How to turn my VHS tapes into VCD using Tevion VS-USB2800D

I have purchased Tevion DVD maker VS-USB2800D and wish to convert my VHS tapes onto vcd's, (cos. i do not have a dvd burner). Turkey's post does not have a drawing for me to look at, he refers to one which I cannot see. I have a scart adaptor which I got with my vhs camcorder and I put this into the scart socket of my vcr and I connect to the white and yellow of the unit from Tevion which in turn goes into my usb2.0 PC card. The audio red? I plug into my mic. socket as I have onboard sound. When I try to capture anything I just get a black screen, the same happens with nero 6 express as I also have nero express but would like to get Tevion working as if not I shall return it and get my money back. I am new to this and any help would be grateful.
