I managed last night to burn a couple movies by converting them to an ISO file (using Shrink) and burning them with Decrypter, but today, the program is not longer burning. Here's the report:

I/O Error
Device [1:1:0] Sony DRU-800A KY06 (F:)
Scsi Status: 0x02
Interpretation:Check Condition

CDB: 2A 00 00 00 00 10 00 00 10 00
Interpretation: Write (10) - Sectors 16-31

Sense Area: 20 00 05 00 00 00 00 0A 00 00 00 00 2C 00 00 00 00 00

If anyone could translate this in to newbie language and offer some help, I would greatly appreciate it!! Thanks!!

I used to have the same problems. Maybe you should update your DVD-Rom firmware. If still doesn't work change your DVD-R media to another type or brand cause sometimes cheap stuff won't work with some dvd burners.

Thanks for the reply. I have updated my firmware to the newest version and I'm using DVDs compatible for the burner (according to the Sony website; the DVDs are RITEK corp.), so I don't think that's the problem. Any other suggestions??

Okay, I've now attempted to burn with 3 different types of media - Playo (which is low ended but has worked in the past), JVC, and Memorex. Should I attempt another type of media, and if so, which type is recommeded?

Dvd Decrypter and dvd shrink ALONE cant copy newer movies.
You need an updated decrypter program.
I use AnyDVD it has a free 21 day trial.
It will solve your problems.

Good luck

I used DVD Shrink with AnyDVD in the background to encode the ISO file. It's when I attempt to burn the ISO file that the Decrypter fails. I tried burning with Nero and it worked, but I've had problems with Nero in the past (it was constantly failing), so I have no idea why it all of a sudden decided to work again. As it stands, I can't burn with the Decrypter but I can with Nero and yesterday I could only burn with Decrypter...I haven't changed anything with the computer, so any ideas what has happened? And, how can I get decrypter to work again?

I don't know why Decrypter isn't working for you, but as it's not being updated anymore why don't you try ImgBurn?

'ImgBurn carries on from where DVD Decrypter left off! (Well, for the burning part anyway!)'

Works great for me for ISO created with DVDShrink.

What your getting is a:
E 00:18:51 Failed to Write Sectors 16 - 31 - Command Sequence Error

I would say that either your drive just failed to write to those discs properly or another program is messing with the drive at the same time you're trying to burn

Possible Solutions***************************

1)Try some different media, your drive may not like those disks. I personally use and recommend SONY DVD+Rs, good media!

2)Try disabling AnyDVD or anything else that might also be using the drive.

3)Update the drives firmware, which you say youve done.

4)DMA enabled?, chech and make sure that dma has been enabled for your devices. Here's a guide;
