well say each song is 3MB big, then on a 32MB card you could fit just under 10 songs.

15. Q. I don't have much space on my Memory stick, is there any way I can get smaller MP3 file's?
A. Fortunately, Yes, you can. Download this program called Cooolsoft's Power MP3 WMA Converter 2006 here:
http://www.cooolsoft.com/download/PowerConvertor.EXE
Drag and drop or simply open the music file's you want into the Converter, and put it to these setting's. Change the number from the default (128) to 80, (don't go lower or it won't sound good). Change the WMA, to MP3 if it's not MP3 alreaddy, than choose the location of your newly converted music file. NOTE - The size will decrease dramatically, I had a 7 Megabyte song and it decreased it to 2.56mb, it will not take any bits of the song and the length of the song will still be the same.

A CBR bitrate of 112kbps is the lowest u should go, then again not all software has the option of 112kbps its either 96 or 128.

You could use ATRAC3, its much smalller then mp3, and better quality then those ripped mp3s.(making mp3s even smaler by taking out more frequencies) Sonic stage can convert to ATRAC3.
Note:
if you have a 1.5 firmware pspo you can only put ATRAC3 on Memory stick duo (NOT PRO DUO) luckily the 32mb that comes with tge psp is just DUO and not pro duo so you can put ATRAC3 on it no matter what firmware you got.
If you got 2.0 or up then you can put ATRAC3 on any memory stick.
on the 32mb stick you can fit about 18 ATRAC3 songs.

broad ques... depends on the filesize (length, quality, etc...). if you're not sure, jus highlight songs in your folder that you want to copy over and alt+enter (which shows proterties).
i dont like it when people ask how many songs it can fit... it fits how ever many you can put on it. it doesnt fit EXACTLY this much. the rough amount it can fit is also hard to determine because of the filesize. its stupid how ipod says it can fit 10,000 songs. does it fit THAT many? does it fit nearly that many? it DOES depend on the size...
so next time lau2, to get an idea on how many songs u can fit, just look at the filesize of your mp3z and see how big they are. they come with 32mb msd cards stock. if you want to fit more, do some methods that people suggest
 P4 2.8gHz, 1.5G DDRRAM, 370GB HDD, o/c 6800LE, Leadtek DV2000
 Firmware 1.5, 2.0G MSPD > lovin it ^_^
 modded, collecting dust
stock > 15 original games that hurt my pocket :(
 300GB+ anime

by the way, I have ur solution! Use windows media player and make ur files 48 kbps (22MB per like 20 songs) and then use PSP Video Converter to transfer and change format to psp...

48kbps doesn't sound good, i know when i backup my CD's i record them at 198Kbps or 320kbps i've listened to several when i downgrade them to use as ringers for my fone, and i don't think i could stand something that low on quality. but otherwise like 128 is still a pretty good bitrate could even get away w/ something in the 90's

i compressed the mp3s to about 2mb a song but that still only gives me about 15 songs or so. not really enought to want to delete my GTA saved game. i mean i have a MD player to tie me over until i can afford a 2g memory card. and i hope to God they come out with a longer lasting battery, the one that comes with it is terrible. if i used my psp for music as long as i used my md player (on a daily basis) i would be charging it every night.

48kbps is just crap, i mean whats the point?
Anyone with a good ear could tell that is crap, buy a bigger memory card mate, dont fall foul to the dredge that is anything below 96kbps.
