I've been burning back up copies of my personal collection of dvds for several months. All of the sudden . . . the entire movie isn't burned. Seems to freeze when I play the movie around scene 10. I'm using the latest version of DVD Shrink along with Nero to burn. I used system restore to try to reset my computer with no luck. Guess I'm a newbie and don't know what else to try. Your help is appreciated!!!

tigger27,
Welcome to the forum. Freezing is usually the blank media you are using. What is the name brand of the blank media?

Thanks for your reply. I originally used Memorex dvd 16x . . . but after reading the Forum, switched to Fuji 8x, burning at 8x. I'll switch to any form of media that will get the through this glitch!!!

Try using Sony 8X DVD+Rs, great quality media, but burn the backup at 4X and you'll be ok.

Most here recommend that you do not burn faster than half the media rated speed. You also should make sure that you do not burn too close to the edge of the media. This will also cause freezes and pixelations toward the end of the movie.

I set my target size in Shrink to 4300mb to avoid this. Using CloneDVD2 I just leave it at DVD-5 as the maker of clone indicated that he has taken target size into consideration within his program.

Cheers.

@9mmruger1

I totally agree with the target setting and pixelation issue twards the end of the disk, if your media sucks.

I've thus far have only used two brands of DVD media, Verbatim 16x DVD-Rs and Sony 8x DVD+Rs with my plextor 716a burner. When I had the Verbatim disks I always burned at 16x and tried to burn as far out as possible, when I swithced to the 8x sony disks I was able to power record them at twice their rated speed again going as far out as possible. All the disks played back perfectly, what I'm trying to get at is that it's all about the media, combine that with a awesome burner and your worries/problems are gone.
