Right. Basically, about 2 years ago I got my PS2 modded too play import games. I used a company, who at the time I think were pretty reputable (in the uk) Everything worked fine pretty much, my only problem was I didn't get any documentation with the chip. So I had no instructions on how it worked. However most of the time after trying different combinations of button presses (holding reset for 3 sec's etc) I'd get the games too load.

Now here's the problem. I haven't used my PS2 for a while, and recently I've had an overwhelming urge too play some classic RPG's again. So I got my PS2 out, and after a few tries I manage too get some import PS2 games too work. However my problem arose when I tried too play original PAL and NTSC PS1 games. I can't get them too load at all, Having spent a good hour trying different ways of loading them I've had no luck.

What I'd like too know is what mod chips were popular 2 years ago, and if anyone has any documentation/instructions for them. I have no idea what type of chip was fitted for my PS2.

If anyone has any suggestions or thoughts. I'd really like too play these games again :)

Thanks for your help

most mod-chips from then had button combinations and such , but mine doesn't(mine has the same combination below). this is how older ones could boot games:

1) power on ps2 and tap eject(or reset) to set to ps2
2) power on ps2 and hold reset for 2 seconds to set to psx/dvd video mode
3) power on ps2 and hold reset for 4 seconds to disable chip

*ps2 = this will set it so the ps2 can play ps2 video games(back-up/original).
*ps1/dvd video mode = this will set it so it can play both psx(back-up/original)/dvd movies.

some original games may not boot so disable the chip to see if it works.

ah...I'm board....were's that shotgun?
