I'm not sure if this is a good feature request for Nero, or a different existing product, but I would like to add something that I think would fit nicely in Nero:

I have a large collection of MP3's, Nero Digital Videos, and DVD images. I am currently finding myself in the position that I really don't like keeping all that crap on my hard drives (drives fail, yeah I've heard the RAID argument before...but then that's also why I bought DVD rewritables).

Basically, I'd like for Nero BackItUp to be able to offline my files, and keep the backed up catalog (and corresponding media>file information) readily available under Nero Scout or something accessible by Windows. The purpose is to have disks named something generic, but Nero Scout (or other programs) still have information pertaining to the offline location of those files available.

Example: I fire up Nero SoundTrax, and I want to work with some MP3's that are all on an offine DVD. Instead of having to switch to BackItUp, search the catalog, find the files, restore them back to the hard drive, THEN use them in the program; Nero Scout KNOWS the backup DVD name, and prompts to insert that disk when the files are called for.

I personally believe this would give people the ability to offline discs without having to maintain the disk contents themselves, and may actually give Nero Scout a reason to exist that people will actually use.

Anybody eles see my point? Can someone chime in on how to properly suggest this to Ahead Software?
