Hi,

I have windows xp pro installed on my laptop, and i want to know if there is a way to put a password on when turning on the laptop?
like, when i start up my laptop, It require a password BEFORE it can boot up.

Long time ago my friend had that but he moved so, if anyone might know?

In the BIOS options, you will see a password setup area. There are two options in that section, Setup and System. You'll want to choose System.

Just a word of warning, If you set a bios password don't forget or lose it. That really is a can of worms, trying to circumnavigate a bios password is not so easy.
Do it at your peril and remember to make a note of it some where safe.

Ya just remove the BIOS battery, and reset the CMOS.

Taking out the battery in some models does work.
However, some require back door pass words, some require additional software hacks, others require jumper resets, others require you to desolder the on board battery, others require the shorting of two pins on the RTC chip (Real Time Clock)
So for the un initiated, it can be a Can of Worms
