Hi Gang

I thought that VHS tapes, (store bought movies) were not copyright protected. I tried to copy a movie VHS tape I had to a DVD, no work. Am I doing it wrong or is it the fact that they are protected.

Thanks...........Gunny

Hey thanks for getting back to me. I have tried to do it on a DVD recorder, a Panasonic DMR-E60, and just running the cables from the out on a VHS player to the ins on the Panasonic. This is the only way I have tried so far.

Thanks........Gunny

many dvd recorders are designed to prevent recording when the sense macrovision there are two possibiltys to work around this one is too install a macrovision filter between you vcr and your recorder the other is to connect your vcr to your tv and if your tv has video and audio out jacks then hook your recorder up to them

Ok thanks I will set that up and give it a try. You mentioned some thing about the PC. I have captured some programs from the Tivo on my PC, and I can down load them through my PC. I have a wireless connection from my PC to my Tivo. Does this give you any idea as to how I can do this through the PC.

Take care............Gunny

Hi....I just realized that after I wrote that last post, that was not a simple question to answer. So if you just want to refer me to a site that explains this I will understand. Does after dawn have an explanation about this. I have looked but I might have missed it.

Thanks............Gunny

Hi philraz

Yes I have tried it on the 2 recorder/players, no good, I have tried it on my computer on 2 different players, no work. Yes I have recorded other DVD's on the recorder before. I have a Tivo connected to the TV so I have recorded through my computer and the recorder both.

On the Finalizing, I was wondering about that. What is the process for doing that or is it automatic after the movie is copied.? If you don't finalize it, will this cause the movie to not show.?

Thanks...........Gunny

for finalising you would have to consult your manual but it would prevent a movie from playing
