I have panasonic miniDV(minidv is also the type of tapes it uses I'm assuming?) camcorder that I use to tape my band shows. I have sony vaio that has the giga pocket and click to dvd software, it seems either can be used to capture video to the hard drive. I recently ran into some issues with the click to dvd software, which seemed to work fine in the past but now when I attempt to use it to capture it seems to missing some features as if it's not detecting the camcorder is connected to the computer. I'm connecting to the pc via the composite/rca(yellow, red and white) jacks instead of the i link, mainly becaue I do not have the i link cable. the i link option is present when attempting to captuer but not the ananlog option. this is where I decided to use giga pocket software instead since it set to record whatever source is connected(the cable box, camcoder, vcr) to the rca jacks. that worked for capturing my video, but when I got done editing using nerovision3 it won't record my edited entire video to the dvdr, resulting in a bad burn, it still plays, it just hangs toward the end of the video and stalls. I'm recording on dvd-rw because I'm going to blow through a bunch of dvd-r just to see what happens. keep in mind it's only like an hour of video so the bad burn is not because the of the size. I've attempted using nerovision3 to capture the video, but it doesn't seem to work at all, it will get like 2 or 3 seconds of the video then stalls while the video plays on. my questions would be what is a good capture software and capture card for that matter. are the capture card or the connection options on my vaio just crap? don't those connections just go straight to the motherboard allowing me to view whatever source is connected to my pc? I really don't see how the connections or card could make a big difference since all it need do is allow the source to be displayed or fed into the pc, the recording/capture is handled via the software I'm assuming. Is there a big difference using the i link? is it just the software that causing the snags? I'm certain theres some problem with the click to dvd software sony provides, although I don't what exactly it worked in the past.
