I puut a dms ezi lite chip in my v8 and got all green lights on the tester, I can disable the chip, flash the bios with toxic 1.4, I can even boot programs off cd-r and from my hd but backup games will not boot.

I have to disable the chip to boot my originals but the part that really confuses me is that my hd loader disc will boot and it recognizes my backups.I'm just trying to figure out what I have to co so I can boot directly from my backup discs.

Are you sure you have flashed the chip? The DMS4 can boot homebrew (like a burnt HDL disc) with out being upgraded with toxic. The DMS4 is buggy to begin with, then adding the unreliable EZI clip kit didnt help any. Have another look at the DSP clip but be very careful not to bend any of the chip legs. That damn DSP clip kit has killed many'a PS2!

I have a DMS lite. I don't know what to flash it with or were to get the program to flash it with. Is there a special method to burnit so that the PS2 can read it?

Just go here

http://www.teamtoxic.com.cn/

then download the bios you need. You dont have a DMS4 Pro so you cant use Toxic OS. So download Toxic bios 1.4. It will be a bin/cue that you can burn to a CD-R with your favorite CD burning app (like nero) then just pop the cd in your PS2 and if everthing goes right the bios disc will boot and prompt you to press X to begin the upgrade.

Good luck!

Ive read that if you dont flash it with the right bios it could destroy your chip and the PS2. If I flash my DMS4 Lite with TOXIC 1.4 is thre a garantee there it will not desrtoy my PS2?
In the manual thing it said that a third party bios was not needed for the chip.

No ... nothing will happen to your PS2. I have seen the DMS4 chips fail with using their own flash which is kind of strange, poor quality bios chips or something.

Anyway that site I linked to is the official Toxic site so you have nothing to be worried about. By the way team Toxic is just another part of Team DMS so its not really "third party" .... more like one cubical over.

The DMS4 will boot homebrew ONLY with the factory flash. In order to get the chip to boot back-ups you will need to flash it with Toxic.

i have it flashed with toxic 1.4. I can get the toxic boot screen that lets you change the settings. What I don't get is that I have to disable the chip to boot originals but not to boot an original copy of hdloader.

once i boot hdloader i can install backups onto my drive but i want to boot them directly

@cw2001

If by boot them directly you mean through Toxic and bot having a disc in your PS2 you wont be able to do that with a DMS4 Lite as the lite does not support Toxic OS. You can only use Toxic Bios with the DMS4 Lite which only has the basic bios features and nothing else.

what I mean is I have toxic bios 1.4, and i can get to the toxic screen, but when i put in a ps2 backup disc all I get is "unable to read disc" screen like it is trying to play it as a movie.

If I put in an original I get the red screen saying insert a ps2 disc.but it will boot my hdloader disc.

Hmmm that is very strange, I would check the CD/DVD points very well. It appears the bios points are correct otherwise you wouldnt be getting to the Toxic Bios settings at all. Is your HD-Loader disc an original or a on a CD-R?

Well booting PSX games doesnt take many of the point on the chip to be correct... only a few in fact. Have you tried booting a PS2 CD-R back-up? It would seem unlikely that your having lasers issues since you have a V7/8 console but it is not impossible. Also what brand of DVD-R's are you using.
