i got the dreaded "failed to read file F", I saw somewhere a mention about using anydvd but without everneeding to use it, my trial version expired can anyone help.

If you want to continue using anydvd, you're going to need to purchase a license key from slysoft.

If you want to try and go the free route:
Download and install DVDFab decrypter 2.9.7.3 from here
http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm

You can use it to rip the DVD files to your HDD, it will create a VIDEO_TS folder containing the video files. Once DVDFab is done run DVD shrink and open the files DVDFab created (use the open files tab and browse to the VIDEO_TS folder), shrink will analyze/import the files. At this point you can use shrink as you normally would to reauthor and shrink movie to fit on a single layer disk. Once it's done burn the backup to disk using your application of choice.
