im very sorry to bother you again with these questions =) but well i cant figure it out so...

i have ripped the dvd down
i have made a project with DVD2avi
i have ( mistake) made a Mpg file that worked fine in mediaplayer with sound and so on (1.44gb ouch)
i want to make a Divx file (at max 700mb)

ok i cant! load the vob files into virtualDub.
i cant! load the D2v file into virtualDub
Neither can i load them in Flaskmpg

what am i supposed to do
rip the DVD: done
make d2v project: ?
compress: ?
anything else: ?

You got it almost right. You need to rip the movie, create d2v project and then you need to use VFAPI reader codec from here:

http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/vfapi_codec.cfm

...after installing that (have fun, readme is in Japanese ;-) you can open VFAPI files such as d2v with VirtualDub (it creates pseudo-AVI files out of d2v files). Then apply resize filter in VirtualDub (good guide : http://www.doom9.org/vdub_resize.htm ) and encode the movie to DivX.

Not very detailed, but should give you the idea how to do this anyway.
