Yes you can use a usb cable to charge your psp, im not sure if you can use that particular one to charge your psp. You must look for a PSP USB Charger . A regular usb cable wont work on it.
the particular one u buy for psp that u can charge via usb... does it charge just as fast as the ac adaptor? i dont think it does, but wana double confirm
Yeah i think its a bit slower because i can charge my walkman via usb aswell but it takes 6 hours to fully charge like that where as the ac adapter takes 2-3 hours.

The USB adapter I have has got a USB for the PC and on the other end it splits into two, on for the USB connection of the PSP and the other goes into the Power of the PSP, this charges my PSP through the power bit of the PSP and the other for file transfer.
