not recognizing disc in drive

when I put a disc in and hit open disc I get a mssage telling me to insert dvd in drive. I already have one in but still get message telling me to install dvd.I doesn't matter wich drive I put dvd in, it still won't show a dvd is in the drive. Any ideas?

Are you talking about a blank disc or one that has a movie on it that you purchased?

Also, are you sure you're giving it time to "load?" After you immediately put in the disc, it won't be there.

If you are waiting, refresh Shrink's screen.

Or, download like DVDInfopro or DVDIdentifier and check out the disc's details.

Latest AnyDVD to rip > VOBB to blank the unwanted on a DVD > Shrink to compress > ImgBurn to burn = Never starting a thread asking how to backup a movie

I give it time, but it says there is no disc in the cd-rom or dvd-recorder. I am talking about a pre-recorded disc.I just says there is an erroe, no disc in drive. It used to work great, then suddenly I can't even play my movies or anything.

Try a lens cleaner. It is a simple and affordable way to test the drive. Dust, dirt and smoke residue all affect the laser lens. The lens cleaner disc will get rid of most of it.

If that doesn't help, it could be the cable or the drive itself.
