DVD X Copy problem

I just bought DVD X Copy V1.4.1 at Best Buy along with the HP 300i DVD writer. I'm running Win98 1.2ghz 512ram with 100gb drive. I tried making a backup of my DVD movie Kiss of The Dragon. It appears to copy successfully to my hard drive. I am then instructed to remove the source disk and load the target disk. When I try to eject the source disk, I get the blue screen with a Windows Fatal Error message. I am forced to close the program or even reboot. On my next attempt I shut down everything running in the background. When I reached the same point I tried manually ejecting the source DVD and get the same Windows Fatal Error Message. Can anyone help.
