i am currently trying to back up the movie spirit - stallion of the cimarron, using dvd shrink with dvd43 installed but keep getting an error about half way through the analysing process (cyclic redundancy check). Can anyone please tell me if there is a way to overcome this error and backup the disc.
Try cleaning your disk there is probably a scratch, smudge or some other imperfection on it. If this does not work then take it back and get another original. 99% of CRC errors are because of bad disks. You can also try the disk in another drive sometimes this works, where on drive will not rip but another will.
I'm trying to back up this same movie and I'm getting errors as well. I've cleaned and cleaned, tried DVD Decrypt, DVD FabDecrypter and VobBlanker and I get an error about 34% through the first 2 programs and and a different error on the 3rd program, about the same spot having to do with one of the .vob files. I'm not very good at decifering these errors further than trying all of these programs. Any suggestions? Thanks, everyone.
If you have tried all the programs and cleaning has not helped, take the disk back and get another original this is either a bad press, or some imperfection that cleaning cannot cure.
in addition to arniebears' reply, it might (i say might as these cans are like £10 each) be worth getting one of the cans of compressed air and giving the drive a quick cleanout; i tried this the other night on a 6yr old dvd player that skips even playing originals. Then i was able to watch 2 whole films with virtually no skipping. that's great luck so far, didn't want to have to ditch the player
