After I rip the dvd and encode it into an mpg format with TMPGEnc, the sound is very low. I have to turn my tv (or computer) up abnormally loud to get normal sound playback; this also causes excessive feedback (or noise, or whatever you want to call it). Im sure there is a setting to cause it to get encoded with normal sound but cant seem to find it. Please help!!!! Thanks.

i dont think there is much you can do about that

i am not familiar with tmpgenc i use gordian knot .. but do you get a seperate file for audio/ i.e. do you have ot convert ac3 to wav to mp3 manually? if so then you can boost the sound if you have a wav encoder or make sure your bitrate is decent!

i do get a seperate audio file, but it is done at the same time as the video. The program that does that is dvd2avi. After that, i use the TMPGEnc to encode it to .mpg Ive tried messing with a couple of audio settings with TMPGEnc but no luck.
