I was wondering if anyone out there has tried copying this dvd and been able to get it at any better quality. I've decreased the menus to 57.3% which is as low as they go and made all the extras and unreferenced material to still imagaes. The main movie only has one audio option and I've gotten rid of all the subpictures. Yet the movie is only 1h45m long and I can only get it to 66.4% The movie is not that long and there are very little extras, so why is the quality so low?

i can't remember what compression % mine was, but i watched it on my 32" LCD TV and i thought it looked/played great.. it's a laid back film (what i mean is there's not any fast action scenes in it or anything that would cause the quality (or lack of) to stand out..

Fastzip - Do you really need to keep the menus? If you're taking away all the extra material, there is really no reason to keep the menus other than scene selection. Try reauthoring the main movie only. You'll get much better compression that way.

Firstly, if you got the percentage down to 57.3, if you do the Deep Analysis and quality enhancements, you won't have any problems or significant loss of quality. Maybe if you were to play it on a 55" screen, you would notice it. But, like you, I like to do a full disc backup (minus the unnecessary stuff) and the final product of this disc looked fine on my 27" and 36" TVs.

If you starting hacking the movie, and only took the main title, and you're getting 66.4, do the aforementioned options and you really shouldn't have any problems.

If anything, run it through VOBB to be sure.
