Hey all, I just purchased a 100 pk of Memorex CD-R 52X made in Taiwan. I purchased them from OFFICE MAX. Should I keep em or return em for something better? They are unopened, so haven't tested em.

Depending on your drive, they ought to be very good quality. There is little difference between the quality ranges of today's brand names of CD-Rs. Some will have slightly better ratings than others, but error correction and the common use of phthalocyanine dyes means that there will be very few problems for most people. No-name brands are too often B-grade factory rejects or product that has been compromised by shortcuts in production.

So they aren't like DVD's? Preferring those make in Japan rather than those in Taiwan? And preferring TY and Verb over Memorex? Thanks, Dave

CD-Rs are relatively easy to make these days; DVDs are still mechanically tricky because they come in two halves that have to be slightly concave and bonded together so that as the adhesive cures, it shrinks and pulls the disc halves perfectly flat. There are those who prefer TY and Verbatim over all other discs; and even when/if they are made in Taiwan by "poor quality manufacturers," they will still prefer those discs. The variances in actual quality differ far less in CD-R than they do in recordable DVDs.

Thanks for the info. I'm not as worried about the disks now. But would you guys recommend another CD-r over these Memorex's. Just want to make sure before I open em. Thanks
