After reading about the ease of installing a chip into a Gamecube and having done a few playstations I broke down and ordered a chip for my Cube, the Viper GC Extreme to be exact.

The documentation for soldering and all was rather nice, and simple.

However that is where the documentation ended. So now I have a Viper installed, but have yet to see the Viper shipping bios, or get the flasher to work.

I've resoldered all my connections and tested them with a voltmeter and am getting a connection.

The blue light that I'm guessing means 'all is well' on the viper comes on.

However when trying to flash the bios to it I get told that it cannot locate a Viper Chip. From what I can gather the programmer talks to the chip via the ribbon cable. After inspecting the cable it shows no signs of damage, as well it shouldn't as all I've done is unfold it. They're both pluged in blue side up.

I can still boot a standard game with no issues so nothing cube wise is messed up. However I do belive that I read you should be able to open the lid and not get yelled at that it's open, this is not the case. As soon as I open the lid I get an error (more accuratly, when I release that switch back there).

Any suggestions as to what may be the issue with this little setup? Or at least where to start...
