When I put the disk in it wont play on power dvd. It shows no disk, and AnyDvd says to put a disk in. On the back of the disk cover it says. (This Dvd is copy protected & maybe played only on Licensed Devices.)
I have had this problem with one or two other movies. Has anyone eles had this problem and where you able to over come it.

No problem here with this movie and AnyDvd running in background. Copy and burned fine using just DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter... However there will be problems for some on Memoirs of a Geisha - a Sony Pictures release. Has the Sony ArCcos encryption like Capote, Squid, Cave, etc. Just need a new release of DVD FabDecrypter... then to DVD Shrink for compressed ISO...

And how did you compress it? Being from Vegas, I'll bet any amount of money that DVD Decrypter is not the only program you used to get this 2 disc movie and extras set backed up on 2 4.7GB discks. You need something to cormpress it and DVD Decrypter will not decrypt the Sony ArCcos encryption. AnyDVD might fix the Sony encryption if latest version, but it isn't 'used' per se, but merely runs in the background...

As always, I didn't have any issues with Geisha. I always have the latest version of AnyDVD running; I used Shrink to compress/rip and then Decryptor to burn.

The Bonus Disc is a DVD5, so you don't even have to use Shrink (but I still did just to remove a couple of audio tracks to make the rip even quicker).

I'll get Sound of Thunder probably by next week. We'll see how that goes.

It's all based on having the latest version of the program. If you spent the 39 bucks to get AnyDVD (and you should--it's so worth it), you will hardly run into any issues even with the new Sony protection. If you don't have AnyDVD or for whatever reason you still run into an issue, the newest version of DVDFab would probably do the job.

Latest AnyDVD to rip > VOBB to blank the unwanted on a DVD > Shrink to compress > ImgBurn to burn = Never starting a thread asking how to backup a movie

@ Adnihilo
Anydvd works automatically in the background and removes encryption (CSS) and region code (RPC) from DVDs.

I know this because I use AnyDVD, but if you re-read my post you'll see "AnyDVD might fix the Sony encryption if latest version". However for many, AnyDVD still won't clean up ALL the Sony Encryption problems alone - it may, but depends on the encryption and how late a version of AnyDVD one has..
