Sorry if this has alrdy been asked but I have a question about audio options. When ever I backup my movies i always Re-Author so I can get the best picture quality. I always go with the 5.1 DTS and usually the AC3 2 channel (parents system doesnt seem to pick up the DTS, thus no sound when I bring the movies over to their place.) Here lies my question. Since its re-authored I dont have a menu to choose what Audio option I want. Will the DVD player being used auto pick the best audio option? or will it just Default to one or the other? I appreciate any info to clear things up for me.

Thanks in advance

If you re-authored the DVD with only the DTS audio track then to hear the sound you will need.....

DVD player compatible with DTS and a sound system with a DTS decoder in it.

So even if your Parents DVD player is compatible with DTS sound (most DVD players are now) it dosent necisarly mean you will get the sound to play. They would have to have a sound system with a DTS decoder in it for the audio to be heard.

So if you want DTS for your system and want to let other people borrow your DVD's it would be best to keep both DTS and AC3/5.1 channels. Those are uasly the main movie audio tracks. The audio tracks in AC3/2.0 is uasly for menu's or for directores comentary and trailers.

As for re-authoring a DVD and keeping both AC-3/5.1 and DTS I wouldnt know how you would choose between the 2 if you edit the menus out. You might have to choose 1 or the other or keep the menus so you can select what audio to play. Maybe somone else would bebale to answer that question with 100% certenty.

There is usually a button marked audio on the DVD remote. This will toggle through all the available audio tracks on the DVD. A button marked subtitle on your remote will toggle through the available subtitles on the DVD as well. So a menu is not needed to select these options as long as the remote control has these buttons.
