Problem with DVDComposer and DVD Author

I am having a problem when I create a dvd with menus. I am using several mpeg files that I converted from avi. When I use DVD Composer to create a menu everything seems to work ok. I put the dvd in my dvd player and the menu looks great. The only problem is there is no sound on any of the episodes. When I create dthe menu I imported the same mpeg file for both audio and video. Should I make all of my mpegs mov and ac3 files?

Second, when I used TMPGEnc DVD Author everything once again looked like it was going to work ok. But when I put the dvd in my dvd player the menu doesn't show up. It shows big yellow boxes on my screen where the buttons should be. I click on one and it plays one of the episodes but once again there is no sound. Has anyone else experienced these problems?
