I want to be able to rip the footage off a dvd then be able to import it into editing software. I need to somehow make the .VOB files that i have ripped into something useable in the software (.mpg, .AVI , .mov )

I'm using Final Cut Pro on a mac to edit the footage.

I have tried renaming the .vob files to .mpg etc but this does not work.

Any help appreciated
