Hey all just wondering what you guys might think about these media types. I get all my media from Best Buy, cause its right across the sreet =) and I was wondering which one was the better media of the two.
I'm running out and think of buying 100. The Sony is on sale until Saturday, and the Verbs go for the same price I think starting Tuesday. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. =)

These are both very good! However, IF you can find those Sonys that say "Made in Japan" on them, they will be Taiyo Yuden Made and the better of the 2. You'll have Excellent media either way.

SONY and VERBATIM are excellent made anywhere MIT or MIJ, I've never experience flawed disc of any kind from either manufacture with -R OR +R DL 8x. I also rencently visited Circuit City where thay had eight 50 pk +R 8x spindles all MIJ and all had the typical white round spacer. I would say from my experience that MIJ SONY spindles (50 pks anyway) have the rounded edge cake box covers like those commonly seen with TAYO disc.
SONY +R 8x which most will describe as TAYO have given me trouble ie, disk skips and freezing, (I use nothing but premium up to date optical drives on a high speed PC)So I overal prefer SONY -R 8x of the two. VERBATIM again are excellent with the best DL performance I've seen MIS. I rank these two overall the best because they advertise a superior product right on the label. Most of the others simply label their DVD's with minor instructions if that, and with no claims to quality which means alot to me personally.;P
haza12d- The other esteemed members Have given you great advice ! if you are Forced to Choose between Taiyo Yuden Made Sony ( MIJ = Made in JAPAN) or Verbatim I don't think you could go wrong with either ! I would Concur with Mr. catfreak on that one"1- Made in Japan Sony (Taiyo Yuden) w/ octagonal spacer

all three are excellent choices ... Also one small note Not all of the Mij Sony will have the Octagon spacer Bought some MIJ 'S 8X DVD-R sony's in January & have round white spacer ! So perhaps the Octagon spacer is a new development - Newer Stock ! Also The Sony MIJ 8X DVD-R 's may code out as SOny ( instead of Taiyo Yuden ) Emailed Sony & they say that Their Japanese Made Media is Made by Taiyo YUDEN !for them ! So in the end out of thr first two choices - Buy whichever you can get the best price on and or whichever Brand works better in your burner ! being Taiyo Yuden & verbatim are both excellent media that point may be moot !
