There several progs that you can use...some aren't free, some are:

NeroVision Express (shareware, unless Nero came with your drive)

vso DivXtoDVD (free): http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/v...

ConvertXtoDvd (formerly known as vso DivXtoDVD, shareware, has more features): http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/v...

Avi2Dvd (free): http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/avi2...

These are some of the popular ones that people use. Of course, there are other ones that are out there, but most of them aren't free. After converting the files, you'll need software to burn it onto a dvd. Such programs that you can use are available, but not limited to:

Nero Burning ROM or Nero Express

Using Folder2Iso (free), then burning it with either Dvd Decrypter/ImgBurn

CopyToDvd: http://www.vso-software.fr/products/copytodvd/copytodvd.php

If the resulting VIDEO_TS folder exceeds 4.36 GBs, you'll need a program to "shrink" or compress it so it can fit onto a single layer DVD blank.

If you need more help, don't hesitate to ask.

Nero may a bit complicated, so let's try using Vso DivxToDvd, shall we?

Go ahead and download divxtodvd from here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/v...

Here's some instructions on how to use it:

PDF version (downloadable onto your comp, use Adobe Acrobat or something similar to view): http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/DivXtoDVD.pdf

or a web based version: http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/98/59/

You can use Nero to burn after is it done converting...

Depending on how big/how long the movie is and how fast a processor you have, the conversion process could take a long time. To ensure you can have it done in ample time, let's check a few things before doing the conversion process.

- Make sure your IDE drives are in DMA mode, instead of PIO (written by AD user: Alkohol) - http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm/231/dmaissues

- Have you defragmented your hard drive(s) recently? If not, it would be wise to do so...

- Make sure you aren't running any unnecessary programs in memory while the conversion takes place. It's recommended to have 512 MBs of memory installed (1024 is better).
- Get rid of spyware/adware/malware that could be residing in
memory
- Disable some programs that are not needed (firewall/antivirus).
If you do disable your firewall, make sure you're not connected
online as that leaves your comp vulnerable

- Don't multi-task (using the comp for other reasons while it is converting). Once the conversion has started, it's best if you leave the comp alone

They must be a lot to throw at you, but if you take careful steps, you will be successful (well, almost everytime ;P)

Let us know if you need something clarified, or need help.

Good luck...

The software's name is quite confusing. It will convert pretty much any media file to dvd compliant video files...

Did you play the movie (.vobs) thru the dvd player (Cine Player, WinDVD, PowerDVD, etc.) on your comp? Or do you mean you've already burnt the movie onto a dvd blank and tried playing it on a standalone dvd player?

Sometimes, when converting a media file to a dvd movie, the audio will be out of sync, due to the change in framerate per seconds/bitrate... This is unavoidable sometimes...there might be a slim chance on correcting it...

Here's a codec pack that contains many codecs that are very common to files that are encoded to a certain format (.AVI, .mpg, .mov, .ram, .DivX, etc.)

K-Lite Mega codec Pack: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Mega_Codec_Pack.htm

When installing, be sure to read the instructions...

I'm sorry, I can't help you in that area because that is piracy. It is against forum rules at this site and might be illegal in your country...
