something really weird happened to me last night. i was trying to back up my copy of flightplan and dark water. i ran them both through dvd fab, and all was well. whenever i went into dvd shrink to do what it does, it was not able to read the movie. it said that i had an I/O overlapping in progress. i have never seen anything like that before. so, i decided to burn it with nero. well everything was good up until it started to burn and then i had a message that popped up on the screen that said out of memory. i know that i had plenty of memory. so now i am stuck with about 5 discs that are worthless. i was just wondering what my problem was. why was i getting an out of memory message?

i just thought of something else, what version of Shrink are you using ? (the latest and last version was/is 3.2.0.15). as far as i recall this problem was fixed or addressed in the latest version

just remembered, i used DVDFab Decrypter for Flightplan (2.9.7.3 i think it was, though i may have had 2.9.7.2 installed when i did this movie). Either way i then used just DVD Shrink as per normal.

as for Dark Water i used just DVD Shrink on it's lonesome.

how are you getting on the the overlapped error ?

i think i must have a bad disc. because i have gone in and tried everything again, and i still get the same error. i have tried dvd decryp, and then when i go to DVD Shrink, DVD Shrink will not find the movie. i have never had this problem before. these two movies are blowing my mind. i went and bought king kong, and backed it up just great, no problems, then i thought i would try these other two movies, and the same thing happened. like i said earlier, i have them both in my hard drive, and tried to burn with Nero, it i keep getting out of memory error. Nero will burn like 15% of the movie, then the memory error pops up. i am nowhere near out of memory.

right, that's more like it. your problem is during the burn stage. hopefully we can see more from the Nero logs...

if you've got Nero 6, let's have LAST section of your Nero log which lives in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar.

if you've got Nero 7, let's have LAST section of your Nero log which lives in C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\NeroHistory but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '5C80' or similar.

either way you can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"

chayne04,
After using DVDFAB-Decrypter use VobBlanker and then use DVDShrink. If that does not clear it up then you have a bad mastering press.

Creaky ,
Hope you do not mind me commenting

thanks guys for all of your help. i finally backedup flightplan. i used dvdfab, and then used VOB, and finally shrank it with dvdshrink. i know what i did wrong and that was not using VOB. once again thanks for all of your help.

cool. i guess i should revise the way i've been posting about DVDFab Decrypter lately then :)

..it's just that i rarely need to use it (so far)

ie i usually post that DVDFab Decrypter followed by Shrink should be all that is needed and i guess i should throw in 'vobblanker' in the posts too, to cater for those that need it
