Hi. I'm trying to watch my divx movies off my Hdd in SMS and when I start the movie it's going 2x too fast (2,4,6,8etc...). Is there any way to stop this from happening. And I also tried streaming it off of dvd and cd and they are still going to fast. Some movies go from the beginning to the end in 2 seconds. I've also used versions 1.6 (rev5) and 1.5 all revs. Please help.

Wow, I've never heard of that before. I've used SMS without a hitch for almost a year and that hasn't happend on any of the PS2s I've worked on either.

Maybe your controller is messed up or something. Like R1 could be stuck or something like that. You could have also somehow altered the config file for SMS too.

Where did you get your copy of SMS? Also, where are you loading your .elf from (mc0, hdd, mass, etc.)? What launcher are you using to launch your .elf?

I got my copy from http://www.sksapps.com. I've tried loading from memory card, mass, hdd and cd and each one of them streams it to fast. And I'm using myPS2 to launch the elfs. It's version 1.1. And I don't plan on loading the media off of cd, dvd or mass because I only wanted to watch movies off my HDD. Please update me with any info that could help.

There are still some issues with myps2 that I don't like. Some of the issues that i encountered were that it wouldn't load all of my .elf files. I read somewhere that it does not properly clear its register values when launching certain .elfs.

I would try in your case using uLanuchELF. There are constanly updates for the launcher and I have never had a problem with it. With the newer versions that are out right now, skinning is also available. You can download from the official uLanuchELF thread here:
http://www.ps2-scene.org/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=9738&...

Also, you can get the latest version of SMS from the official site here:
http://sms.ps2-scene.org/eng/index.htm

uLaunchELF might not look as fancy as MyPS2, but it is a hell of a lot smaller in size, leaving way more room on you memory card for your gamesaves. There is currently an option where you can skin uLaunchELF with your own custom .jpg if you are interested.

Let me know how the new launcher and media player work out for you.

Yeah thanks for the idea of using uLaunchELF but still I have no luck on trying to play these videos. I've tried playing them off of cdr and DVD-R and still the stream way too fast. I forgot to add it has no sound at all. The only media it plays good are music files. But that's it. I also found an old 4gig laying around my house this morning and tried that and still it was way to fast. Thanks for your help though.

I think i found out why you videos are playing too fast. I was searching on the support forum for sms and another person had a similar problem.

The moderators there told him that the audio format for the files that he was playing were not supported on SMS. To get them to work he has to redo the audio to a different format. I don't know your experiance with audio and video compression, so this might be a little over your head. In any case, it's a fun project if you want to try it out.
