Hey there

First of all, thanks for reading this. I really appreciate it.

Now, here's my problem:

The last couple of VCD's I've tried to burn have had audio problems.
If I try making an mpeg out of it (using the avi as the source audio), I get no sound.
If I open the file in VirtualDub, I get an error message saying: VirtualDub has detected an improper VBR audio encoding the source AVI file and will rewrite the audio header with standard CBR values during processing for better compatibility. This may introduce up to 11501 ms of skew from the video stream. If this is unacceptable, decompress the *entire* audio stream to an uncompressed WAV file and recompress with a constant bitrate encoder. (bitrate: 129.8 +/- 14.5 kbps)
If I use VirtualDub to extract the audio to a WAV file and then use this WAV file as the source audio in TMPGEnc, the audio is not synchronized with the video.
If use the Audio Gap Correct function in TMPGEnc, it corrects the sync with a small (about 5 MB) sample of the video; however, when I go to process the whole movie, it ends up being unsynchronized throughout the entire thing.

So, does anybody have any suggestions? Please help me out if you know anything about this problem. Thanks again.

Well its not recommended that you seperate the audio from the video and encode that way! What is recommended to do is the following

1. Open the file in Virtual Dub
2. Click video - direct stream copy
3. Click audio - full processing mode
4. Click audio - compression. select no compression pcm and click ok.
5. click file - save avi

Make sure that you check the avi you save to see if its in sync because it may not be due to the VBR audio. If VirtualDUB doesnt do this properly then try VirtualDUBMOD or NanDub. Once you have it done, try it again with TMPGEnc and this time the sound should come out ok!
