Ive burned SSBM on Memorex Mini-DVD 4x, using Nero Burning Rom 6 and ImgBurn, both on 2x. When I put the discs in my cube, they dont load, I just get a black screen. When i go into the GC menu, it reads the disc and knows that SSBM is in, but the game wont load. Ive tried adjusting the POT (varying from 220 to 170) and it still doesnt load. What can i do to fix the problem? different media, different software? any help is appreciated

my gamecube is one of the early versions, it has both analog and digital output, and my modchip is the XenoGC

Use better media, Memorex is trash.

Use Taiyo Yuden, Ritek G04, Verbatim, or Fujifilm.

Seems like it.

Unless you have a low quality burner or something.

Should be alright then.

If you haven't done so yet, upgrade the firmware for it. It should increase media compatibility and may increase your success rates for burns.

I think im gunna pass on the firmware upgrade for awhile, atleast until i try some different media. The last time i tried upgrading firmware for a DVD burner it stopped working (followed the instructions, i dont know what went wrong).

Edit: Nevermind, i upgraded the firmware.

Ok, i just picked up some Verbatim DVD-R 16x Blank DVDs (Best Buy had a 50 pack on sale for $15, couldnt pass it up), and i was wondering how i should burn the iso's. What program (i currently have ImgBurn and Nero Burning Rom 6), what speed (burner and discs capable of 1x-16x), etc. Any help is appreciated.

ok, i tried burning SSBM 3 times. twice with nero at 16x and 4x (finalize, DAO, no multisession) and once with imgburn at 16x (DAO, im not sure about finalize and no multisession), but i get a black screen of death (does the GC logo thing, then locks up at a black screen). my POT is currently set around 170 ohms (+/- 5 ohms). is there somethin else i should be doing?

Are you sure it that the ISO itself is good or not? Try burning a different game and see how it works. The SSBM ISO could be a bad rip.

ill give it a try... all of the ISOs i have are the same (size wise, i looked it up on a site, 1,459,978,240 bytes), so idk...

Edit: I just burned Geist with CopyToDVD and it works perfectly! Im about to burn SSBM with the same program, see if its the iso file or the program i was using.

Edit Edit: I got all of my ISOs to burn and load (with the exception of SSBM) successfully. Thank you guys for helping me out (special thanks to Venom from this topic, and Shadow from the Nintendo 64 topic)
